About the role

Relyion Energy has an exciting opportunity to join our fast-growing team to lead our Engineering and Development team. This role is critical to our long-term success in the Long Duration Energy Storage sector. In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will oversee a dedicated team responsible for all aspects of Hardware, Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering Design. We optimize 1st and 2nd life EV batteries in our product solution. ​

Responsibilies

  • Set production strategy based on Marketing and Sales input.
  • Leads the development and scale-up of BESS Solutions.
  • Manages a team of engineers to integrate Batteries, BMS, Cabling and HVAC solutions.
  • Responsible for creating test and optimization strategies.
  • Managing designs to ensure cost targets are achieved.
  • Interacts with Sales and Customer to ensure customer requirements are key inputs into product definition and design.
  • Evaluates multiple battery technologies for use in our end solution.
  • Effective collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing.
  • Hands on leader managing a team of approx. 20 design engineers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering from an accredited institution; advanced degrees (M.S., Ph.D.) preferred, with a focus on Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience leading Battery Engineering teams within major battery development or production companies.
  • Extensive experience with lithium secondary batteries and associated chemistries.
  • Proven track record in project development, management, and successful delivery.

  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with boards, partners, and investors through compelling presentations at meetings and conferences.
